My Daughter, Brooke

I know. I’m a quilt designer, a wool designer, and a business owner that vends at 20 plus shows a year.  But what I’m most proud of, is my children.  All moms feels the same way, so I know I’m not special in that way.  However, My Brooke is something special.  She is getting married to the love of her life on August 22, 2015 and I couldn’t be more happier for her.  I love that kid more than language can describe. I’m so happy for her, Luke is the luckiest person in the world to have her in his life.  I know that the world is a better place because she is in it.  If the creation of my children is the best part of my life, I’m good with it.

I love all my kids.  Brooke, you are a married lady.   Dad and I are so happy for you.  May all goodness be on the road you travel.  I can’t wait to meet your kids, and spoil them rotten.

I love you, Mom and Dad

Working from Home

Working from home is the best. However, you have to be your own best boss. It is so easy to get distracted at home. I will clean the bathroom rather than make a label that I know I need. I have to do my most important work in the morning. I don’t like to make creative decisions in the afternoon, that is when I like to do mundane tasks. Mindless packaging or cutting fabric type of work is pm work for me.
Next week is the first quilt show of 2014 for Rusty Crow. We will be in Tucson. I’m really excited for this next year.
I have new kits for the booth, 5 new patterns and lots of different fabrics.
Mike and I are celebrating 28 years of marriage tomorrow. Whatever I did in a former life to give me the partner I have in this one, I’m so grateful. I love him more today. He always knew how to love me.

There is always another day

Yesterday I had a whole list of things to get done for the Tucson and Road to California quilt show. I got many things done, but none of them on my original list. An unexpected trip to the airport, then running around getting supplies for a worker that we have here finishing a deck, post office, bank and my day was done.

So I will set out again to get the quilt show stuff packed and into the trailer. I’m really looking forward to the show this year. The how to video is up on YouTube, which will make it much easier for me to help people with their rag rugs. I made the video exactly like I demo at the shows, so I’m hoping that will help with their memories.

New day, another chance to make history!

Back to Work

Today most of the world will go back to work after the holidays. When you are self-employed, and work out of your house, that means you get out of your PJ’S before 8 am. I’m working on kitting two of my new quilt patterns for the quilt shows I have this month.
I’m waiting for the labels for my new packaging, I’ll post a picture when I get them.
Have a great back to work day, I will.
Peace out, Shawn & Crows

New Year is a natural beginning spot

So it’s resolution time. Personally, I thought I was setting goals all the time, but I think I need to rename them deadlines.
I’m really good at deadlines, my family and friends will probably argue the point. But crap does get done.
I want to set goals that inspire me, make me fly out of bed and put a grin on my face thinking about it. The work required to reach those types of goals is still hard, but you are energized with something extra that helps you over the tougher hills.
Happy New Year world. I’m so happy to be here.
Peace, Shawn & Crows

2014 Little words and tiny steps can get you where you want to go.

In a former and my current life, I always wanted to be a writer. The best writers use the simplest and smallest of words to make life appear on a page. 2014 is going to be a year of huge changes for us. But for now, every morning with my first cup of coffee, I will become a person who writes everyday. Now, I don’t think that makes me a writer, but I will write. If I can do that, everything can happen as well.
I hope that you find that thing that makes you want more for yourself.
Happy 2014 to all of you.
